about me & my art

I am a 27 year old self-taught artist based out of Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota. Art has always been a big part of my life but within the last year I have been pouring more and more of my time into physical pieces.

The majority of my art is inspired by personal mental health struggles. Art has become a great way for me to explore and cope with these struggles and I have found a lot of peace in translating my feelings and thoughts onto the canvas.

I enjoy using vivid and bright colors with an attention to fine detail. For me, energetic colors create a beautiful juxtaposition to what may be a gloomy or dark theme of a painting.

Incorporation of dreamy and ethereal elements may initially feel strange or out of place but can create a sense of familiarity with someone who may have dealt with similar struggles.

Blank Canvas - Venus.jpg

the demise of venus

This painting is inspired by the painting "The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli. Venus being the Roman goddess of love, beauty, fertility, and victory. I have always had a great appreciation of the Renaissance and Baroque paintings so it was fun to gain inspiration and study from those works.

shortness of breath

My first large oil painting - I learned a lot while painting this piece.

"Shortness of Breath" was an exploration of panic attacks. The fish lies among the droplets of water unable to breath - existing in a space that could provide relief in the right conditions but it is out of reach and powerless to change it's predicament during this time. Reality distorts around the hands as feeling sinks away into the drain.

Blank Canvas - Ocular Bridge.jpg

the ocular briDge

This painting started as a digital mashup of imagery for reference before deciding to dip my toes back into painting.

Inspired by the "Einstein-Rosen bridge" or wormhole.
